For all its products, Ricola uses only herbs that have been grown in suitable locations with the greatest care and devotion. The locations used for cultivation are selected in accordance with strict criteria; the deciding factors for the ideal growth of Ricola herbs are quality of soil and local climate.
Some 200 independent farmers in the Valais, Emmental, Puschlav, Jura and in Central Switzerland are under contract to Ricola. For the majority of these farming families, cultivating herbs for Ricola is an important supplement to their family income. For this reason, it is Ricola's policy to act as a fair and reliable partner by signing fixed contracts to purchase their product over a number of years.
